Mystic Falls Colorado
San Juan Mountains
This might be my favorite photo… mostly because it nearly broke me to get it.
Mystic Falls is known as Colorado’s most beautiful waterfalls — and now I know why. What I didn’t know? There’s a fairly easy trail that gets you there with little effort.
Guess who didn’t take that one? 😅
I ended up following a trail that felt more like a cliffside dare than a hike. Loose rock, sketchy drops, and moments where I wasn’t sure if I was still on the trail or just stubbornly winging it.
By the time I reached the falls, I was soaked in sweat, shoes caked in mud, and adrenaline humming. But the view was so worth it.
To get the perfect shot, I waded straight into the river — boots and all. Cold, slippery, fast-moving water... just me, the falls, and a camera shaking slightly from the cold (and maybe a little leftover fear from that hike).
Later I found out there’s a gentle path that pretty much leads straight to this view.
Naturally.
Still, I wouldn’t trade the route I took — this photo carries the thrill of the journey and the reward of sticking with it, even when it’s way harder than you planned.
Bring a splash of wild water, forest mist, and just a hint of chaos into your space.
Where Nature Meets the Wall
Every photograph begins with a whisper from the wild — a burst of golden light, the hush of wings, a mountain breathing in stillness. Now those moments can live with you.
