Hey There, I’m Justin – Nature’s Storyteller Through the Lens of Photography

As a Denver native and landscape photographer, bird photographer, and wildlife photographer, I’m fortunate to be close to my favorite outdoor destinations. Growing up, Estes Park, CO, was my playground. My stepdad, Tim, instilled a deep love of nature in me with regular trips through both the towering Colorado Rockies and the sweeping High Plains of Eastern Colorado. During my first year of college, I discovered photography and quickly became captivated by the art of capturing wildlife, landscapes, and birds, telling stories through each frame. Over the past 30 years, I've had the privilege of observing wildlife—from majestic big game to delicate birds—gaining a unique understanding of their behaviors.

With decades of experience, I find solace in the great outdoors, where the scenery and wildlife constantly rejuvenate my spirit. I’ve spent over 20 years in the creative industry, honing my skills as both a photographer and graphic designer. Having worked as a corporate art director, I now run my own design agency. My wife, Ann, and I have had the privilege of fostering Denver kids and adopting two amazing sons, Hunter and Randy, who have shown resilience beyond their years. Nature has always been a vital part of our lives, and I’m thrilled that both of my sons share the same passion for wildlife, not to mention their budding interest in photography—something I didn’t discover until later in life.

Where My Passion for Nature Meets the Lens of Photography

My passion for wildlife and the outdoors began at the age of 10 when my family moved to Estes Park, CO. Surrounded by the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and lush forests, I spent countless hours hiking, fishing, and uncovering the hidden wonders of nature. Each experience left me with a deeper appreciation for the rare beauty and tranquility of the world around me. The more I explored, the more I felt a calling to preserve and share these moments. Today, as a photographer, I’m not only thrilled to capture the awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife that first sparked my passion but also to share these images with others who find joy in nature’s wonders.

The Art of Capturing Nature’s Wild Side

For me, outdoor photography is a full-on adventure from start to finish. It’s not just about capturing a moment—it’s about the thrill of being out in nature, the excitement of the perfect shot, and the creative magic that happens when I bring those moments to life through editing. After 20+ years of photography, I still get a rush with every click of the shutter. And just when I think it couldn’t get any better, I watch my two sons dive into nature and photography with the same passion I have. Exploring, creating, and laughing together—it’s a bond that’s truly one of a kind.
