Cinnamon Ridge Photography
san juan mountains, colorado
I was sitting in the truck, watching the storm roll in behind me — dramatic skies, moody clouds, the San Juan Mountains doing their thing.
But then I looked up at Cinnamon Ridge. And I knew I had about one minute, max.
The wind had picked up and the clouds were racing in — thick and fast. I grabbed my camera with the 24–70mm lens, jumped out of the truck, and made a sprint for a clear shot. But something didn’t feel right — I needed more reach.
Cue the mad lens swap. I scrambled for my 70–200mm, hands half-frozen, adrenaline full blast. Just as I clicked it in, the clouds hit the ridge like a tidal wave of white. I managed a few quick frames… and then the peak disappeared. Completely swallowed.
Right as the Ridge disappeared a group photographers showed up and sighed, “Man… we missed it.”
I smiled, nodded, and quietly thought — this time, I didn’t.
This photo is for the moments that almost get away.
The tiny victories you earn by being ready just in time.
I hope it brings a little rush of wild, cold mountain magic into your space.
Where Nature Meets the Wall
Every photograph begins with a whisper from the wild — a burst of golden light, the hush of wings, a mountain breathing in stillness. Now those moments can live with you.
